Fun-filled Weekend!

(This post was actually written a couple weekends ago but somehow I failed to publish it...)

It seems as we all come out of our winter slump, people are anxious to get out and get socializing so we've had a very busy March and April!

This past weekend was full of new-ish experiences, and we had a blast!  Two of our good friends finally hooked up about a year ago, but between her friends and his, we haven't been able to see much of them as their schedule is often jam-packed but we lucked out twice in a row this weekend!!  Several weeks ago we had nailed down Friday night as double date night and they had the great idea to go to Kings - a bowling alley/ restaurant/ pool hall combo thingy in the Back Bay.  I had been once several years ago for an office Christmas party (thanks again for taking me to that in the middle of a blizzard, Dad!!) and was excited to go back.  Unfortunately on the way, the other girl got a flat on her Cooper and was is often the case when that happens, it was very cold and very rainy.  We detoured over to help her change it, but her car kept falling on the jack and being otherwise non-responsive to any attempts to get it back on the road.  Finally we gave up and called for roadside assistance, where they were able to get us back on the road in under five minutes.  Way to go, industrial floor jack! :)  We finally got to our destination two hours later than normal, but quickly made up for lost time by devouring cheeseburger spring rolls and drinks rimmed with poprocks! Mmmm!  Their food and beverages were wonderful and we had a great time all being pretty bad at bowling - I was, per usual, the worst by far but it was still a lot of fun!

We hit the road shortly after wrapping up because of the dog.  She is doing much better for longer periods of time when we leave her at night, but unfortunately we had already lost 2 hours of playtime because of the tire fiasco, but what can you do.

On Saturday, the same girl had graciously invited us to hang out with her usual crowd.  They had heard of a Mediterranean restaurant featuring belly dancers in Newton, and we were all excited to check it out.  The food there was out of this world, the best kebabs I've ever had by a long shot.  The dancing finally started well after we were done eating, but it was so worth the wait!!  It was one girl who was well-known for her feats of balance while dancing.  While we were there, she set three glasses (jury is out on if they were normal glass glasses though) down and stood on them and danced!!  For her next trick, she balanced a sword on her head while gyrating and doing limbo-type moves.  Just when we couldn't get any more impressed, she put a dagger in her mouth, balanced the sword across the tip, and again commenced with her enviable moves!  It was quite impressive, and we were all anxious to meet her and talk with her when it became a free-for-all on the dance floor.

That's about when Anthony and I would normally call it a night, but this crowd can go into the morning hours easily!!  They started discussing what was next, and we agreed we'd stop at the next place for "just a little bit" before heading home.  But the next place ended up being a karaoke place in Boston!  Though everyone swore up and down they would not sing, but they'd love to watch everyone else, of course that turned out *not* to be the case.  This place is a building with tons of private rooms, not a club like they normally are.  Each group gets to pick all their songs and there are a couple microphones in the room for optimal participation.  Shortly after getting there we were all grooving down and screaming old-school songs from our high school days and having a blast.  I had to drag Anthony out of there a couple hours later, and they were all still going very strong!  They are a very very fun crowd and I love the group, but I guess I am just getting too old to be out all night! :)
