Being a Homeowner

Last Thursday night, Anthony and I were lounging about waiting for his mom to show up from out of town when we heard a horrific crash!! We peered out our windows to try to find the culprit and were having trouble seeing what the problem was. Finally, we turned on the lights over our garage and saw the entire half+ of a tree and part of another tree laying in our driveway. Apparently the storm was bad enough to knock them over, and thank goodness, they managed to land smack dab between our brand new deck/ house and our neighbor's fence. Also, thankfully my mother-in-law had hit bad traffic on the way up or her car could have been seriously damaged. So that was our first "house disaster" and it was a pretty easy one. The only tricky part was going to be removal, but a strapped-for-cash laborer dropped by our house Friday morning and offered to chop it up and take it away for a very reasonable price. So that was nice, no complaints. But it was strange to have that momentary "oh, hmm, we can't call maintenance about this, can we?" thought.
