NYC, Saturday!

After stuffing our bellies, it was time to move into the city to stay at my cousin’s adorable studio right on Wall Street!  We parked a bit away, then walked through a really fun street market to get there.  A woman was touting real Belgian waffles, so I could not resist even though I was stuffed!  To make them easy to eat, she cut them up then put them in a paper cone with a separate compartment for toppings.  We chose Nutella and it was a really good combination.  I’m not sure why I’ve never had that before!

We freshened up and dropped off our stuff, then wandered around Canal Street for some NYC shopping while we tried to get hungry for our late lunch reservation at the famous Carmine’s!  We had been there before, but could not resist going there again and it was definitely well worth it!

After that, it was time to freshen up (yet again!) for our Broadway show!  We really lucked out with our timing to NYC, as two of our favorite shows (Chuck and Smash) were represented on a new play called “First Date.”  The two lead characters were on those shows, and the premise is that they meet for a Blind Date but their friends and family keep popping into their minds with their thoughts, observations, etc.  It sounded like it could go very badly, but it was actually hysterical and we very much enjoyed it.  The singing was amazing, of course, and it was crazy to see tv stars in person.  We even fell into the crowd waiting to meet them afterwards and got to meet Zachary Levi, which just made my night!

Next it was time to pretend we were hungry for dinner, and we went to place I’d read about in a magazine that had French toast grilled cheese, and cocktails inspired by old soda shoppes (think cherry cola, root beer floats, etc)!  We loved the food and drinks, but it turns out it was actually kind of a nightclub too so it was dark and loud, and we were just too tired at that point to enjoy that kind of ambiance!

We made the long trek home before promptly falling into bed, exhausted from our wonderful day!
