After a full month of just waiting and hearing "any day now," we are actually in our last week of being apartment-dwellers. We met with our builder, his realtor, and our realtor on Friday to discuss where everything stood and to pin down a no-kidding-we-won't-be-homeless-date. As it stands, we lose our apartment on Thursday the 21st so we told him in no uncertain terms we would be in the house before then, no matter who owned it. He agreed that the Tuesday before (19th) was a realistic closing date, including the final appraisal and walk-thru.
When we were there, they were working on finishing the tile on our custom shower. The did screw up and forgot to put in the recessed niche for storage, but we agreed to 2 glass shelves instead. The granite guy was on his way, but unfortunately we did not get to see him or our counters. After those go in, the sinks, faucets, and toilets are next, then carpet is last. Well, except for the final touch-ups and cleaning, but still. The appraiser will be in on Friday, Monday's a holiday, then we close on Tuesday!!!
Anthony and I have been hoarding boxes for awhile now, but were reluctant to start packing and taking apart our home until we were certain we were leaving. Well, that time is finally here so we are marathon-packing. It is bittersweet leaving our first home together, but I will be so glad when this is all over. Packing/ moving has been hanging over our heads since October (when we thought we'd move in November) and I'm glad the move is finally here.
